Boomer zero

I stumbeld upon this in The Atlantic: I'm an American who hates King Charles. I keep slipping and and calling him “Prince”, even as I was writing that sentence. Perhaps Caitlin Flanagan the author, has a point about about King Charles' petulance. I wouldn't know. I'm not a Royalist.

I can't help wanting to ask Flanagan, whether Charles is the King of England only, as she keeps insisting, or of the UK and beyond. In any case, she asks an interesting question about the King's ability to unite people around the monarchy:

“This is not an era of reconciliation and bygones being bygones. This is an era of reparations. A lot of people around the world don't want to “celebrate diversity,” a concept wholly born of the dying West. They want their treasures back, and they know where to find them.

Most of them were stolen, and in the most sadistic way possible. Will Charles — Boomer Zero — be able to keep hold not merely of the things but of the idea of England that his mother helped create?

Doubtful.”

I guess we'll find out.
